December 9, 2025 — The Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) held a warm and informative orientation ceremony to officially welcome the new cohort of first-grade students. The event was designed to transition the freshmen into university life and provide them with the essential tools for a successful academic journey.

The ceremony commenced with an inspiring opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Bayan Salim. He congratulated the students on joining one of the university’s most prestigious faculties, emphasizing the importance of dedication, ethics, and the impact of civil engineering on society.

Following the Dean’s welcome, the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Brham Haidar, delivered a comprehensive presentation about the department. He outlined the academic roadmap, the department’s vision for excellence, and the various career opportunities awaiting the students upon graduation.

To ensure students are well-equipped for their first semester, Mr. Halmat Muslih, the Class Advisor, provided a technical walkthrough of the university’s infrastructure:

  • GPA Calculation: Explaining the TIU grading system and how to maintain high academic standing.

  • TIU Regulations: An overview of the university’s rules and student expectations.

Finally, the event highlighted that university life is not just about academics. Mr. Mohammed Kany, representing the Dean of Students, introduced the newcomers to the diverse range of annual university activities. From social clubs and sports tournaments to community service and cultural festivals, he encouraged students to engage actively in campus life to build their soft skills and networks.
