In a significant development for Kurdistan’s engineering community, the Civil Engineering Department Head at Tishk International University (TIU) took a leading role as Chair of the Expert Panel in the latest Engineering Grade Promotion assessments held at the Engineers Syndicate Council Hall in Erbil on December 22, 2024.

The initiative, which evaluates engineers seeking promotion from Licensed Engineer to Consultant level, represents a crucial step in maintaining high professional standards within Kurdistan’s engineering sector. The comprehensive assessment process, conducted under the auspices of the Kurdistan Engineering Syndicate, comprises two distinct phases: a specialized course in HSE and Engineering Ethics & Management, followed by rigorous technical interviews and portfolio evaluations.

“Our department at TIU is deeply committed to fostering growth and excellence within Kurdistan’s engineering community,” stated the Department Head. “This collaboration with the Engineering Syndicate allows us to directly contribute to raising professional standards and ensuring our engineers meet international benchmarks.”

The evaluation panel, chaired by TIU’s Civil Engineering Department Head, included distinguished experts from various engineering disciplines including Architecture, and  Civil engineering. Their collective expertise ensures a thorough and comprehensive assessment of candidates seeking consultant-level status.

Tishk International University’s Civil Engineering Department has demonstrated its dedication to professional development beyond academic boundaries through this initiative. This engagement reflects the department’s broader mission to bridge the gap between academic excellence and professional practice in the engineering field.

The successful implementation of this professional certification program marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen Kurdistan’s engineering sector and maintain high professional standards in the region.

The initiative continues to receive positive feedback from both the professional community and participating engineers, highlighting the important role of academic institutions in professional development and industry standards.
