Testing and Consulting for Engineering Projects
The Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, commenced a project to operate as a third-party consultancy initiative. The Structural & Construction Materials, Geotechnical, and Highway (Asphalt) Laboratories are to be utilised in testing materials for external construction projects. This project has been initiated by the Head of Department and supervised by a specialist team comprising academic staff.
This initiative provides reliability testing and consultancy services, approved and performed by staff members to ensure precise compliance with standards and guidelines. Further, it will provide additional income to the university and help our laboratories develop for better service.
The tests provided in the laboratories include:
— Structural & Construction Materials Lab:
1- Compressive Strength of Concrete.
2- Tensile test for the steel reinforcement.
3- Tests on Bricks (Density, Dimensions, Strength, efflorescence, and absorption)
4- Initial and final setting time of cement.
5- Flexural Test.
To date, the Civil Engineering Department gained $5,500 (which will continuously increase) through material testing, designing and consultation for construction projects.
