Scientific Trip to Queen Company
As a part of building the 21st-century student’s skills, the Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University provides flipping classes scenarios and encourages field trips for students. The field trip to a construction site or manufacturing workshop provides a great opportunity for students to observe the practical and technical aspects of their future careers in a real-life environment and enhance students’ data collection skills.
On December 12th, 2021, 2nd-grade students of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Jawdat Tashan, Mr. Halmat Muslih, and Mr. Osama Ismail, visited the manufacturing workshop of Queen Company in Erbil. Queen Company was established in 2005 in Erbil and provides home and office furniture for regional and international clients. The company has branches in different countries including Turkey, China, Malaysia, and UAE.
Queen Company provided students the opportunity to visit the company workshop and access their manufacturing and storage areas. Mr. Shkar Khder, the Executive Manager of Queen, offered his time and gave a tour around the site, explaining the different components and processes of raw materials manufacturing and the use of wood as construction material.
This field trip to the Queen Company was a good experience that improved students’ knowledge in the area of construction materials. The Civil Engineering Department would like to thank all the members of Queen Company for their hospitality and warm welcome.
