The Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University organized a comprehensive technical site visit to the Dabin Cement Production Plant for its second-year students. This educational initiative was supervised and organized by Dr. Barham Haidar Ali, lecturer of Concrete Technology and Head of the Department, alongside Mrs. Payam Ismael, lecturer of Building Construction.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Dabin Company team, including Mr. Diar Othman RaufMr. Rawaz Hazhar HussainMr. Jegr Dhahir MirazeezMr. Omer Aziz Hamud, and Mr. Sherko Ali Hussein, who conducted highly fruitful tours of the facility. Throughout the visit, the engineers introduced each stage of the production process in detail, from raw material preparation to the final grinding of clinker, providing students with invaluable insights into the industrial scale of material science.

This experience directly contributed to the students’ understanding of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Following the technical sessions, the Dabin team graciously offered refreshments to the group, after which a commemorative photo was taken to mark the occasion. In a gesture of formal gratitude for the hospitality and the high-quality technical introduction provided to the students, Dr. Barham Haidar Ali presented the plant’s administrative manager with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Civil Engineering Department at TIU.
