On November 22, 2025, the Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a “Popsicle Stick Bridge Challenge” for first-year students. Approximately 30 students participated in the technical workshop.
The objective of the event was to introduce students to basic structural concepts and rapid problem-solving. Participants were given a strict 45-minute time limit to design and construct a bridge using provided popsicle sticks and adhesive.
This constraint focused the students’ efforts on quick thinking, resource management, and practical construction techniques. Following the assembly period, the bridges underwent load testing to evaluate their stability and weight-bearing capacity. The activity provided the new cohort with an opportunity to apply engineering logic in a collaborative setting.
