9th National Innovation Competition in Engineering (NICE24)

The 9th National Innovation Competition in Engineering (NICE2024) was organised by Tishk International University (TIU) on May 12th, 2024. This scientific event convened professionals, educators, practitioners, advisors, and engineering enthusiasts from nine Kurdistan and Iraqi universities that are dedicated to Smart Sustainable Innovations. The universities include the Technical Institute of Kurdistan, Tishk International University, Erbil Polytechnic University, Duhok Polytechnic University, University of Duhok, Kirkurk University, Koya University, University of Kurdistan Helwer (UKH), University of Raparin, Knowledge University, and Cihan University Erbil. The objective of NICE2024 was to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their creative works and gain experience in the transformation of their concepts into tangible works. This event introduced students to fundamental engineering concepts and techniques, in addition to enhancing the quality of research and education in Kurdistan. The primary goal was to provide students with the necessary skills to succeed by enhancing their problem-solving and leadership capabilities. In order to promote healthy competition and collaboration, academics, instructors, and judges from numerous universities in Kurdistan and Iraq were among the participants.

The competition received a total of 203 project registrations, of which 170 were ultimately chosen for presentation. Additionally, 67 members of the jury made substantial contributions to the evaluation of the projects by providing insightful feedback and guaranteeing that the evaluation was both fair and comprehensive. The President of Tishk International University, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi; the Vice President of Tishk International University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir; the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Safwan Mawlood; Mr. Wisam Abdulaziz, Head of NICE 2024; and Mr. Dlman Aziz, Head of Interior Design Department, declared and presented gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top three winners in each of the seven participating categories, in addition to money prizes and certificates. NICE2024 was a platform for the engineering community to engage in innovation, recognition, and collaboration. Tishk International University expressed its gratitude to all the attendees, sponsors, personnel, and supporters who played a role in the event’s remarkable success.
