Tishk International University held 3rd NICE competition on May 16th, 2017, under the theme of “Targeting Smart Sustainable Innovations”. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Idris Hadi Head of Board Trustees of Tishk International University gave a speech as to significance of the program not only for Tishk International University and KRG but also for each key dynamics of the world in innovation and engineering fields. He has thanked all participants, particularly from other universities and staff who made a performance for this program.

NICE (National Innovations Contest in Engineering) is a groundbreaking Engineering competition open to higher education students in Kurdistan Region. Project competition was held in six different categories: IT, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, and Architecture. There is, as well, one more category as Pasta Bridge (Spaghetti Bridge). More than 100 projects were presented by 300 students. There was precious jury members to evaluate these projects. The competition was held among eleven different institutes and universities of Kurdistan as follows:

* Hawler Medical University

* Tishk International University

* Kirkuk University

* Knowledge University

* Lebanese French University (LFU)

* Salahadin University

* University of Kurdistan-Hawler

The aim of Olympiad was to improve the creative ability and scientific thought of students, as well as the thoroughness, skill, and clarity shown in their projects and to help the growing of future scientists. Hands-on activities are not like theory. It needs skills of practicing the known reality.
