About Engineering Faculty
Engineering is the application of science and math to solve problems. Engineers try to figure out how things work and find practical uses for scientific discoveries. Scientists and inventors often get the credit for innovations that advance the human condition, but it is engineers who are practical in making those innovations available to humanity.
Tishk International University realized the importance of engineering in the Kurdistan region and the necessity of its role in building and developing the community, so the Faculty of Engineering has been initiated including seven departments as:
- Architecture Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Interior Design Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Petroleum and Mining Engineering
- Surveying and Geomatics Engineering
Architecture Engineering involves the design, construction, and inspection of load-bearing structures such as large commercial buildings, bridges, and industrial infrastructure. The Architectural Engineering program has been accredited by a German Institution (ZeVA, Hannover) company in 2020.
Civil Engineering involves the design, construction, maintenance, and inspection of large infrastructure projects such as highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels, dams, and airports. The Civil Engineering program has been accredited by a German Institution (ZeVA, Hannover) company in 2017.
Computer Engineering is the practice of designing computer hardware components, computer systems, networks, and computer software. Computer engineering is the branch of engineering that integrates electronic engineering with computer sciences. Computer engineers design and develop computer systems and other technological devices. The Computer Engineering program has got accreditation from a German Institution (ZeVA, Hannover) company since 2019.
Interior Design Engineering is evolving to engage new ways of thinking about internal spaces, intersecting the relationships between spatial design, building technology, computation, and the history, theory, and criticism of art and design. Interior designers may draft the preliminary design into documents ranging from simple sketches to construction schedules and attachments. Our graduates are empowered with the competencies and attributes needed for the development of the profession and communities in the region, country, and worldwide. We have got accreditation for Interior Design Engineering Department from a German Institution (ZeVA, Hannover) company since 2020.
Mechatronics Engineering is a vibrant multidisciplinary branch of engineering: interlinking electronics, mechanics, computers, as well as communication and signal processing. It is the core of any Robotics and/or Automation system. Besides the competitive theoretical subjects, the graduates enjoy the hands-on experience through the rich practical environment in the departmental laboratories.
Petroleum and Mining Engineering studies are concerned with operations involved in the exploration, evaluation, and extraction of petroleum, fossil fuels, and minerals from surface and subsurface geological formations in the most optimum way. Petroleum engineers evaluate oil/gas reservoirs, plan drilling operations, and design the process of production. Mining engineers investigate mineral resources and are responsible for planning and supervising the construction of mines. The next step of the development of the department is to get accreditation from a worldwide organization.
Surveying and Geomatics Engineering is teaching the preparation process of Maps, Digital Terrain Models (DTM), Digital Surface Models (DSM), Orthomosaics from field observations by electronic instruments (Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanning) and aerial images taken by Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV) and Satellite Imagery. It also participates in the layout of engineering projects and supervision.
Tishk International University follows the Bologna Process in educating students. The whole system has been founded according to European standards from the foundation. All our students are ready to study abroad after graduation. With accredited departments, our graduates can easily find good alternatives for their graduate studies all over the world.
Mission & Vision
Mission
Our mission is to foster excellence in teaching, research, and learning within a systems approach to engineering education. Our goal is to educate our students with both a strong base of technical knowledge and the complementary skills needed to be successful professional engineers in the modern world. We also aim to have graduates who consider moral principles of the local and global community and apply them to the practice of engineering in a set of obligations to society, to their clients, and to the profession.
Our core goals are:
- Build a sense of service, ethics, professionalism, and dedication in our students.
- Support our students in the experimental process to be a professional engineer with experience and necessary skills.
- Develop scientific thinking ability that considers ethical values and community benefits.
- Pay attention to sustainable solutions to community problems.
- Train graduates who have professional competency and professional ethics.
- Train free, critical, productive individuals with innovative ideas.
- Bring Interdisciplinary studies to the fore and promote teamwork between different areas.
- Interact with international organizations and institutions to build strong relations and to configure events.
- Develop projects, by strengthening relationships with industry and service sectors to contribute to the development of the country.
- Build strong relations between the Faculty, the University, the community, and industry to build a research base.
- Construct programs to meet evolving industry, community, and student needs.
Vision
The Faculty of Engineering will thrive as a leader in education with a dynamic and innovative approach that supports ethics, cultural diversity, lifelong learning, research, entrepreneurship, professionalism, and partnership with local and global communities.
