Scientific Trip for 3rd Stage Students

On February 8th, 2024, the Interior Design Department. Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a scientific trip for third-year students to the Institute of Fine Arts in Erbil as part of their Interior Design Studio V Course. The trip was supervised by faculty members Dr. Omer Abdulwahab , and Research Assistant Ms. Marwa Rizgar.

The primary objective of the trip was to provide students with a hands-on learning experience by observing the main zones of institute of fine arts , including the classes, arts classes , reception, sculpture hand making classes and free hand class and with including theatre area and other related areas. The tour emphasized the furniture distribution, dimensions based on institute of fine arts , spacing, colour pallets, accessories, and other design details that enhance the learning and working, drawing environment .

The management team at the Institute of Fine Arts warmly welcomed the staff and students and arranged a comprehensive tour of buildings with different areas. Throughout the tour, the lecturers explained the main design points, dimensions, positive and negative aspects of the design to the students.

During the scientific trip, students were required to take photos and gather information to prepare a detailed report. The students were also taught how to take as-built measurements and understand the difference in design depending on the users’ needs. Finally, students were asked to make conclusions about what they learned through the trip based on their observations and the teachers’ explanations.

Overall, the scientific trip was a success and a valuable learning opportunity for the students. It provided them with real-life examples and insights into designing, helping them to develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
