In continuation of the scientific activities at the Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Interior Design at Tishk International University organized a specialized guest lecture on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The session, held for the “Special Topics in Interior Design” course, featured guest lecturer Mr. Hoshang Jaafar, who was invited by the course lecturer, Mr. Frsat Abdullah, to share his expertise on “GIS Applications in Interior Design.”
The lecture focused on the innovative intersection of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and interior architecture. Mr. Hoshang Jaafar demonstrated how GIS can be utilized to visualize complex spatial data, allowing designers to account for external environmental factors, demographic trends, and site-specific constraints during the planning phase. By integrating these applications, interior designers can transition from traditional drafting to more intelligent, data-informed design solutions that enhance the functionality of a space.
The session was highly interactive, providing students with valuable insights into the technical tools used in modern architectural workflows. The department extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Hoshang Jaafar for his contribution to the students’ professional development and thanks Mr. Frsat Abdullah for organizing this impactful academic exchange.
