A Field Trip to Boulevard Construction Site

On October 26th, 2022, the Interior Design Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, organised a scientific trip for second-stage students to the Boulevard Residential Compound. The trip was supervised by lecturers Mr. Dlman Aziz, Mr. Abdulrazaq Zamil, Mrs. Huda Sabah, and research assistants Shaymaa Jalil and Sally Ahmed. This activity relates to the Interior Design Studio Course, aimed to help students connect their theory classes to real-life design and construction projects in the region. Students focused on the central zones of the apartment design (kitchen, dining, living, master bedroom, kids’ bedroom, bathrooms, etc.), the furniture distribution, spacing, colour pallets, accessories and other design details.

The managers on the site welcomed the staff and students and arranged to give them a tour of two of their completed furnished apartments with two different areas, which had unique designs in their furniture style, colours and details. The lecturers explained to the students throughout the tour the main design points and all the dimensions and construction details.

After the interior tour of the units, Mr. Dlman Aziz explained several construction details, including beams, columns, foundation, mechanical and other services that can help students in the design phase and imaging how these types of structures can work or function.
