Department of Interior Design Engineering Community Projects

On November 9th 2022, the Dean of Students at Tishk International University organised a mega event to demonstrate the role of our university in society through academic, social, scientific and community-serving projects. The event commenced with a welcoming speech by host Biza Ismail. A welcoming speech was also delivered by the Head of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Idris Hadi, who also spoke about the importance of universities in society and the role they play through social activities in enhancing the quality of learning and access to education. Throughout the event, students and visitors were introduced to TIU clubs (including Sports Club, Art Club, Music Club, Reading & discussion Club, Language Club, etc.) that take place at the university. Our staff and students had the chance to write their names to join their clubs of interest and participate in many other social activities.

The event primarily aimed to demonstrate the social community projects that are annually organised and supervised by different faculties. More than 25 social projects were exhibited. Each faculty had a significant role before and during the event, and their student and staff volunteers presented and explained their social projects to participants. The event also included a food fundraising section where funds were collected for charity.

The Interior Design Department prepared a community project for our entitled A Clean Kurdistan. The project aims to raise awareness among people about sustainability, a term globally known, and many countries are working to achieve sustainability for a better environment. One of the sustainable development goals is ensuring sustainable consumption by recycling and reusing materials, which the project also targets. The project includes visiting schools to introduce sustainability, recycling and reusing materials and how they can reuse through simple handmade works and elements. This community project will be applied in collaboration with staff and a group of volunteer students in the Department of Interior Design Engineering.
