Surveying and Geomatics Participate in 5th International Spring Festival
The Surveying and Geomatics Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, participated in the 5th International Spring Festival of Language, Culture, and Science, under the theme “Green Energy and Minimum Waste”, organized by TIU on May 17th, 2022. The festival started at 10:00 AM with the national anthem, followed by a speech delivered by Dr Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad, President of TIU, emphasising the importance of such social and cultural activities. Dr Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the Board of Trustees, also gave a welcoming speech and discussed the festival’s objectives. Following this, Dr Abdulrahman Sdiq, Head of Environment and Consumer Rights Committee at KRG Parliament, talked about the importance of green energy and minimizing waste to help preserve the environment. TIU music clubs then performed an outstanding live performance to entertain the attendees.
The festival aimed to raise support for renewable energy as a solution to the region’s energy and environmental crises and to increase the awareness of minimizing waste. The festival also focused on promoting the message of peace and coexistence among countries and nations. The festival comprised 28 tents each representing a country, 21 scientific tents from TIU departments, 14 tents of alumni start-up business owners, 9 tents of, 6 tents of NGOs for the disabled, 4 nations including Kurdish, Arabic, Turkmen, and Christian, and other tents for food fundraising, art exhibitions, and many entertainment games.

Our department participated in different activities and represented France in the cultural tent. Making a Tree by The Green Fingerprint was also promoted by our organisers as a symbol of making the world green. Further, the department represented a scientific tent and presented the role of Surveying and Geomatics in improving “The green energy and minimizing the Waste“.
