In a heartfelt initiative rooted in community care, the Interior Design students of Tishk International University came together with purpose and passion to breathe new life into a neglected local school. What was once a space of peeling walls, broken lighting, and a lack of basic resources is now a brighter, more hopeful environment, where learning feels possible again.

Through dedicated food fundraising efforts, our students successfully raised enough money to renovate 15 classrooms. Every wall was painted with care and hope. They also added 12 bookshelves, 6 pinboards, installed new switches and lighting, and filled each shelf with over 50 Kurdish and English books and sketchbooks—creating a small but meaningful library corner in every room.

For the students involved, this was more than a social project; it was a deeply emotional journey. Many shared how witnessing the transformation through their own hands gave them a new sense of pride, purpose, and responsibility. They didn’t just change the classrooms—the classrooms changed them, too.

They discovered the joy of giving, the strength of teamwork, and the deep impact of kindness. This project reminded us all that even the smallest actions, when driven by care, can bring light where it’s most needed. And sometimes, that light begins with us.
