On February 2nd, 2025, the Interior Design Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU), organized a scientific trip for second-year students to Cadmus International School (Kindergarten). This trip was a key component of their Interior Design Studio Course and was supervised by faculty members Ms. Faiza Bakir, Mr. Rebwar Abubakir, and Research Assistant Sara Mahmood.
The primary objective was to provide students with a hands-on learning experience by observing the kindergarten’s main zones, including the classrooms, playing area, reception, and other related spaces. The tour emphasized crucial design aspects such as furniture distribution, dimensions based on children’s sizes, spacing, color palettes, and accessories that enhance the learning and play environment.
The management team at Cadmus provided a comprehensive tour of the building. Throughout the visit, the supervising lecturers explained key design points, discussed dimensions, and highlighted the positive and negative aspects of the design. Students were required to take photos and gather information to prepare a detailed report.
The trip also offered practical training in taking as-built measurements, helping students understand how design considerations change based on the specific needs of the users. The students were asked to draw conclusions based on their observations and the explanations provided by their teachers.
