Reciprocal Frames Training Course

In collaboration with the Architectural Engineering Department, the Department of Interior Design, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University organized a Reciprocal Frames Training Course, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sabah Shawkat Architect and Designer in the University of Bratislava Slovakia. The training course was held for two days, November 26th-27th, 2023.

The two-day training course delved into the intricate concept of tensegrity in structures, focusing on designing in alignment with elemental forces. He elaborated on the artistic aspects and definitions of tensegrity. The course emphasized lightweight design across various forms, shapes, sizes, and applications, highlighting the complexity of designing such models and the importance of form-finding in non-conventional design.

Participants, including students and staff, constructed physical models to appreciate the versatility and aesthetic appeal of lightweight elements in interior design, bridging the gap to structural morphology. These models showcased each component’s visibility and constructiveness. The course’s primary objective was to provide hands-on experience with reciprocal frames, enhancing participants’ understanding of integrating art and technical skills in design practice.
