On April 21, 2025, the Interior Design Department at Tishk International University successfully conducted a workshop titled “Reality After Graduation: The Journey from Classroom to Construction Site.” The event was designed to bridge the gap between academic education and the practical realities of the professional world in the fields of interior design and architecture.

The workshop was led by two experienced presenters: Sara Mahmood, an interior design graduate, and Zaher Abdallah, an interior architect. This interactive session was specifically for interior design and architecture students and anyone interested in gaining deeper insight into the profession.

Workshop Highlights

The workshop aimed to:

  • Highlight the differences between university projects and real-world challenges.
  • Provide firsthand accounts from experienced professionals.
  • Explore various career paths within the field.
  • Simulate a realistic site-based scenario to enhance students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Participants were provided with the necessary materials to facilitate the learning process. The agenda included an introductory ice-breaker, followed by discussions on academic versus real-world work, and a look at different industry career paths. The presenters shared personal experiences, including the benefits and challenges they have faced.

The session concluded with an open Q&A and final advice from the presenters, encouraging students to approach their future careers with confidence and preparedness. The event was held in a well-equipped hall with all necessary logistical and technical arrangements.
