2nd Grade Scientific Trip to Safiran Village

On October 8th, 2023, the Interior Design Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) prepared a scientific trip for 2nd grade students to Safiran Village, in relation to their Interior Design Studio II Course, held under the supervision of Lecturers Mr. Suliman Mustafa and Ms. Sana Basil, and Research Assistants Aisha Asaad and Marwa Rizgar.

The objective of the trip was to concentrate on key zones within residential buildings, specifically emphasizing villa design. Special attention was given to critical areas such as bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, focusing on aspects like furniture distribution, dimensions relative to human scale, spatial arrangement, colour palettes, accessories, and other design details.

Upon arrival, site managers cordially welcomed both staff and students, facilitating a comprehensive tour of an under-construction villa and showcasing different areas on the site. Accompanying lecturers guided students throughout the tour, elaborating on crucial design points and discussing the dimensions, as well as the positive and negative aspects of the design.

Students actively participated in the trip, capturing photographs and gathering information essential for preparing a detailed report. The experience enabled them to acquire skills in as-built measurements and deepen their understanding of how design considerations vary based on user requirements.
