National Workshop on Sustainable Aviation and Aircraft Structural Material

The Aviation Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) was delighted to host a National Workshop on Sustainable Aviation & Climet Action on November 27th , 2024, from 14:30 to 16:30. The workshop was comprised of two sessions, separated by a fifteen-minute break.

The first session of this workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Qaysar Salih. During this session, Professor Dr. Qaysar explained the Effect of Climate on New Machine Learning-Based Modern Avionics Systems: Applications and Challenges. He provided an opportunity for connecting to SDG 13 – Climate Action in the framework of the effect of climate on new machine learning-based modern avionics systems. Finally, he highlighted the progress in this field and the steps taken to align with the sustainability goals while remaining committed to the performance targets.

The second was delivered by Assist Prof. Dr. Soorkeu Abdulwahab, Head of the Aviation Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at TIU. During this session, Assist Prof. Dr. Soorkeu explained climate action and sustainable aviation fuels: hydrogen propulsion. He touched on SDG 13 and 17 as he outlined the new orientation goals in aviation within the framework of alternative fuels and improved, cleaner combustion processes. The focus was on hydrogen and the breadth and depth of its contribution to the future of sustainable aviation fuels, linking the environmental, economic, and social dimensions.

Towards the end, the participants in the workshop took part in a review of what was delivered, and the interaction verified the projected learning objectives. Just before the end, the audience provided their valuable feedback on the event.
