Head of Department Statement

Aviation is a vibrant multidisciplinary branch of engineering interlinking Electronics, Mechanics, computer as well as communication and signal processing. It is the core for any Robotics and.1or Automation system. The people of this part of the world are the natural inheritors of modern technology, it is here the first known electric battery has been discovered; goes back to 300 BC. The first clock was designed fabricated here together with many other technological system that had great impact on the daily life of the inhabitants such as; irrigation waterwheel on rivers; and grain-grinding windmill.

Since its inception, the Aviation Department has incorporated modern teaching techniques: implementing; student centered learning and learning by doing. Everyone is encouraged to take part in practical projects that are carried out in the Laboratories of the department. Besides the other non-classroom activities, the department provides a range of

seminars and workshops which are presented by our staff and visiting professors. We enjoy a good relationship with the community and numerous Non-governmental Organisations (NGO’s) through events; such as scientific trips; and short courses and open days. This culture has helped to provide good learning environment to our students by enriching their experience.

It is our goals to equip our graduates with good communication skills beside the necessary technical knowledge, in order to be prepared for the employment market after graduation.

The department delivers a variety of modernized competitive courses in its field: Microelectronics and Controllers; Robotics; Programable Logic Controllers (PLC), Electric Vehicles and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD); Renewable Energy and Power Electronics; and other sophisticated intelligent-systems and robotics courses.
