The Surveying and Geomatics Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU), will hold a national workshop on Monday, December 9, 2024, titled, “How to Moderate Grades Using Different Approaches.”

The workshop is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM and will be held at the TIU Education Building, Room #302.

Objectives and Content

The primary objective of this workshop is to ensure that fair, valid, and reliable standards are applied to student assessments. The sessions will focus on ensuring that grades are awarded appropriately and consistently, and that assessments accurately reflect student attainment.

The following topics will be presented during the workshop:

  • Introduction, History, Basic Definitions: Fundamental concepts of grade moderation.
  • Mathematical and Statistical Backgrounds: The different techniques used for score adjustments.
  • Pros and Cons of Each Method: A discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
