Sustainable Aviation Engineering Focus

The Aviation Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University successfully organized its first National Workshop for the 2025/2026 academic year on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Presented by Professor Abdullateef Jadallah and Dr. Soorkeu A. Atrooshi, the workshop explored the critical intersection between aviation engineering and Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Climate Action.

Technological Innovations for Environmental Sustainability

The workshop examined specific engineering innovations that can significantly reduce aviation’s environmental impact:

Key Innovation Areas:

  • Lighter advanced materials for aircraft construction and components

  • Improved aerodynamic designs optimizing fuel efficiency

  • Sustainable maintenance strategies extending aircraft lifecycle

  • Landing gear system optimization reducing aerodynamic drag

  • Energy efficiency enhancement through technical improvements

  • Reliability improvements supporting longer-term sustainability

Engineering-Environment Connection Strengthening

A central focus of the workshop was strengthening the vital connection between engineering innovation and environmentally responsible solutions:

Workshop Objectives:

  • Demonstrating effective engineering solutions for climate challenges

  • Balancing technical effectiveness with environmental friendliness

  • Integrating climate considerations into aviation engineering practices

  • Promoting sustainable approaches within traditional engineering frameworks

  • Bridging innovation with practical environmental applications

Workshop Preparation and Organization

The event was meticulously prepared and organized by:

  • Mr. Ahmed Ameer

  • Mr. Shamal Mohammedamin

Their efforts ensured the workshop provided valuable insights into how aviation engineering can actively contribute to climate action through targeted technological innovations and sustainable practices.
