Protecting Our Planet Starts with You

On March 14th, 2023, Tishk International University‘s Faculty of Engineering staff and students gathered to plant over one thousand trees around the campus, an annual tradition organized by the university, aimed to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the importance of tree planting. The campaign seeks to engage the university community, including students, faculty and staff, in planting and nurturing trees on campus and nearby areas.

Planting trees is essential to save our planet for several reasons. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, one of the major greenhouse gases contributing to global warming. By reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, trees help to mitigate the effects of climate change. In addition to absorbing carbon dioxide, trees also provide oxygen, improve air quality, and prevent soil erosion. Trees also act as habitats for wildlife and provide food and resources for people. Planting trees can help combat deforestation, a significant contributor to climate change, loss of biodiversity, and habitat destruction. Deforestation can also lead to soil degradation, erosion, desertification, and other environmental problems.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our staff and students for their enthusiastic participation in the recent planting trees campaign. Their dedication and commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable campus environment have made a significant impact. By actively engaging in tree-planting activities and demonstrating a deep understanding of the importance of preserving ecosystems, participants have not only made a positive impact on our campus, but also set an inspiring example for others to follow.

We would also like to acknowledge the teamwork and collaboration displayed throughout the campaign. The collective effort of staff and students coming together to work towards a common goal has been truly remarkable.
