Aviation Engineering Department Seeks Cooperation in Baghdad

On February 4th, 2024, a team from the Aviation Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) headed to Baghdad for a one-day visit to establish contact with the Iraqi Airways Maintenance Department at Baghdad International Airport for future collaboration in student training and internship. They also visited the Aeronautical Engineering Department of the University of Baghdad to promote joint academic work in areas of collaboration in teaching, visits to laboratories and preparation for joint workshops under the framework of the existing memorandum of understanding between the two universities, since November of 2021.

Starting from early morning, the Head of Aviation Engineering Department Dr Soorkeu A Atrooshi and the Department Coordinator Mr Ahmed Ameer met with senior engineers in charge of training at the Iraqi Airways and agreed on continuing dialogue with regards to the training of the students. This was followed by a visit to the University of Baghdad and a meeting with the Dean of the Engineering College, Prof. Ghassan H. Abdulmajeed and the head of Aeronautical Eng. Dr Anmar Hamid. The discussion focused on the means of activating the MOU between the two universities in the field of Aviation Engineering.

They later moved to the Aeronautical Engineering Department to continue the conversation on the curriculum development and joint future workshops. This was followed by a visit to the laboratories in the department. At the end of the visit, it was agreed to improve the communication between the two sister departments with special focus on joint workshops and a cordial invitation was extended to the head of the Aeronautical Engineering to take the next step and visit TIU armed with a shared vision and agreed plan of work for involving the students during the next academic year.
