The Aviation Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University successfully organized its second national workshop for the 2025/2026 academic year on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The workshop was presented by Dr. Soorkeu A. Atrooshi and Mr. Ahmed Ameer Arsalan.
Sustainable Development Goals 1, 12, and 13 are closely connected, focusing on efficient production, energy transition, and a more resilient environment. In this workshop, the speakers highlighted innovation in sustainable aviation materials and emphasized harmony with nature as a key direction for sustainable engineering. This approach covers all stages, from design and conception to production and operation.
The event included two parts. First, Mr. Ahmed Ameer presented “Sustainable Aviation Materials,” focusing on new materials and their role in improving sustainability in aviation. After a short break, the workshop continued with the second part. Dr. Soorkeu A. Atrooshi then presented “Lessons from Aikido for Sustainable Engineering,” explaining how engineering physics, philosophy, and ethics can connect through the principles of Aikido. He also demonstrated how these ideas relate to sustainable engineering practice and linked Aikido concepts to coordination, mental energy, and harmony as tools for sustainable development.
Overall, the audience actively participated in this interactive workshop, gaining new insights into engineering innovation and practical ways to reduce stress through physics in motion. They also visualized how stability, adaptation, and efficiency can work together in engineering systems.
