On Sunday, February 08, 2026, the Aviation Engineering Department conducted a community outreach program to engage high school students in STEM activities. The department organized the event in coordination with Akito High School, located in the Ainkawa District of Erbil. Students and staff attended an introductory presentation followed by a competition and an award ceremony. The program also included a discussion session that explained the scope and impact of Aviation Engineering as a STEM-based discipline. During the event, the school administration expressed strong support and discussed several challenges they currently face. The students showed great curiosity and asked many thoughtful questions throughout the session. Overall, the day proved productive for the school community. Participants gained a clearer understanding of the requirements of engineering programs at TIU, particularly in Aviation Engineering.
