The Department of Aviation Engineering on 7 December 2025. started the new academic year for the first-year students with an orientation event that was designed to introduce the students to the different requirements of university education at TIU. The event coincided with the “International Civil Aviation Day” and to mark the occasion with a profound note, the department prepared a short talk that highlighted the role of “Civil Aviation” in connecting people and setting the pathway for innovation, precision, and a dedication that has made global travel a reachable goal for millions of people. The talk also reminded the aviation engineering students of their role and encouraged them to push forward with their curiosity, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility marked by their commitment to excellence. The talk was delivered after the welcoming note from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Bayan Salim.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Soorkeu Abdulwahab, Head of the Aviation Engineering Department, continued the academic introduction by emphasizing the importance of hard work, discipline, and excellence in aviation engineering. Students were briefed on essential university regulations, including attendance requirements, examination procedures, academic integrity, and general conduct expectations. The session highlighted the significance of understanding and following these policies to achieve academic success. Additionally, students were introduced to official communication channels, email protocols, announcement systems, and the importance of maintaining consistent communication throughout their studies.

Further sessions focused on essential digital and student-life systems. Mr. Ahmed Ameer Arsalan, the department coordinator, guided students through the SIS system, explaining navigation, course registration, the add/drop process, password management, and how to access grades, transcripts, TIU email, and lecture materials. This was followed by a presentation from Mr. Shamal Mohamedamin, who introduced student life opportunities such as student council participation, clubs and societies, and community engagement. He also explained the career center’s role in providing internship support and skill development in leadership, teamwork, and extracurricular activities. Together, these sessions ensured that new students gained a clear understanding of both academic and campus life as they began their journey in the Aviation Engineering Department.
