At the dawn of the new academic year, the faculty of Engineering hosted a faculty-wide gathering for its staff. Attended by Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the head of the board of trustees, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University (TIU), and Dr. Jwan Jalal, the Dean of Engineering, the gathering served both as a celebration for Tishk International University’s recent successes and achievements—most notably securing the number-one ranking in the region and achieving significant growth in research publications—and as a forum for planning the new academic year.
The gathering began with speeches from the Head of the Board of Trustees, the President, and the Dean. These were followed by a presentation by Dr. Safwan Mawlood, the vice-dean of Engineering, who discussed and analyzed some statistics regarding the number of staff, logistics, and other information regarding the faculty.
The highlight of the gathering was the discussion of plans regarding the betterment of the faculty. One crucial consideration was the allocation of a room on the grounds of the university reserved for recording podcasts about all things engineering. As the digital age has progressed, podcasts have proved themselves a very popular medium for conveying information and entertainment. Therefore, a dedicated TIU podcast about engineering is a promising way for increasing engagement about both the discipline of engineering and the activities of Tishk International University in the region.
The gathering concluded with the distribution of gifts to all staff members, accompanied by sweets that added a light and festive spirit to the room. This closing moment offered staff a chance to share conversations informally, and end the event on a warm and uplifting note.
Spanning eight departments, the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University continues to provide students with world-class education while advancing cutting-edge research. The gathering stood as a reaffirmation of this commitment, bringing staff together around a shared vision of progress, collaboration, and excellence. With renewed momentum, the faculty now looks ahead to a productive and ambitious academic year.
