Surveying also includes the technique of establishing points by predetermined angular and linear measurements. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>During a survey, various instruments used, such as Levels, Theodolites, Total Stations, Global Positioning System (GPS), 3D scanners, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), EDM instruments, digital levels, and surveying software, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Importance of Surveying<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Surveying used to prepare a topographic map of a land surface of the earth and to prepare plans and sections of an area to be covered by the project.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The planning and design of all projects such as railways, highways, tunneling, irrigation, dams, reservoirs, waterworks, sewerage works, airfields, ports, massive buildings, etc. are based upon surveying measurements.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the execution of the project of any magnitude is constructed along the lines and points established by surveying methods.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The measurement of land and the fixation of its boundaries cannot be done without surveying.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The economic feasibility of the engineering project cannot be properly ascertained without undertaking survey work.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The execution of hydrographic and oceanographic charting and mapping carried out by survey methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is Geomatics?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The technology that defines spatial relationships of artificial and natural objects of this world in its true three-dimensional form is determined through the discipline of geomatics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Geomatics is the discipline of gathering, storing, processing, and delivering spatially referenced information.
