Summer Internship

Students Mohammed Dilshad and Mustafa Khalis from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University, joined a summer course lasting 12 days in Germany. The Additive Manufacturing in Engineering Application Course was provided by Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, held from August 8-19, 2022. This summer course, funded by DAAD, provided an opportunity for lectures and students to visit automobile design and production labs and centres.

Mohammed and Mustafa mentioned many benefits of the additive manufacturing course. They also talked about their scientific trips, including visiting Dresden’s Volkswagen Car Manufacturing Company and the ACTech company in Freiberg, which produces casting prototypes and small batches for customers from various industries. They had a workshop on improving communication skills, which was an excellent opportunity to communicate with others from different cultures. Towards the end of the course, both students delivered a presentation on additive manufacturing to fellow students and lecturers.

This program was organised by Assist. Prof. Dr Abdulkader Kadauw, General Coordinator of the DAAD Project between Iraqi Universities and the University of Freiberg, Germany. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s most extensive exchange program, supporting various research initiatives and short-term study abroad programs annually. Thirteen students from seven Kurdish universities, including two from TIU, received funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to attend a summer program this year.
