Tishk International University\u2019s <\/span>10th National Innovation Competition in Engineering (NICE2025)<\/span><\/strong> was successfully held on <\/span>Sunday,<\/span> May 11th,<\/span> 2025<\/span><\/strong>,<\/span> under the inspiring theme \u201cTargeting Smart Sustainable Innovations.<\/span>\u201d This annual event brought together students,<\/span> supervisors,<\/span> educators,<\/span> and practitioners from engineering disciplines across universities in Kurdistan and Iraq,<\/span> all united by a shared vision for smart and sustainable innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Invitations were extended to various universities and institutes throughout the region,<\/span> fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge.<\/span> Notably,<\/span> Interior Design Engineering students from TIU\u2019s Erbil and Sulaimani branches,<\/span> as well as participants from the Educational Institute of Interior Design,<\/span> took part in this year\u2019s competition,<\/span> showcasing their creative and forward-thinking projects that bridged design and technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon arrival,<\/span> all participants and jury members were directed to registration desks at the university\u2019s main building entrance,<\/span> where they received badges,<\/span> lunch cards,<\/span> event programs,<\/span> and stand codes.<\/span> Jury members were then welcomed into the Coordination Hall,<\/span> where they received evaluation forms and appreciation gift packs,<\/span> along with a briefing on the project assessment criteria to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event officially opened at 10:<\/span>00 AM with a ceremony attended by the Acting Chair of NICE2025 and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering,<\/span> who addressed the competition\u2019s objectives,<\/span> mission,<\/span> categories,<\/span> and the number of participating students and projects.<\/span> He also expressed heartfelt thanks to all organizers,<\/span> supporters,<\/span> and participants for their contributions to the success of the event and the broader scientific community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the ribbon-cutting,<\/span> project evaluations began at 10:<\/span>30 AM.<\/span> Students presented their work to the jury,<\/span> who assessed each project based on originality,<\/span> scientific methodology,<\/span> clarity of presentation,<\/span> technical proficiency,<\/span> and overall effort.<\/span> Interior Design students impressed with projects that emphasized <\/span>sustainable design solutions<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>innovative approaches<\/span><\/strong> to modern spatial challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the evaluation process and lunch break,<\/span> jury members submitted their scores using a specially developed mobile application that automatically calculated average scores and resolved ties using a pre-set formula.<\/span> The competition culminated with a closing ceremony at 5:<\/span>00 PM in front of the main building,<\/span> where the top three winners in each of the eight categories\u2014along with international honorees\u2014were announced and awarded certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding achievements.<\/span><\/p>\n

NICE2025 stood as a vibrant testament to the creativity,<\/span> skill,<\/span> and ambition of the next generation of engineers and designers.<\/span> The participation of Interior Design students from across branches and institutions added a rich,<\/span> interdisciplinary dimension to the competition,<\/span> reinforcing the role of design in shaping sustainable and innovative futures.<\/span><\/p>\n
