You may have heard claims stating, “In Islam, women are not loved, have no rights and are oppressed”. When we look at the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we can see that these statements could not be further from the truth. Although he was sent during a time when\u00a0women were widely\u00a0believed to be inferior and not being given meaningful recognition, he led by example with his respectful treatment towards\u00a0women. Although Islam acknowledges that Men and Women are not the same, the Quran clearly mentions the equality of both in creation and in the sight of Allah s.w.t:<\/p>\n

\u201cO humanity! Be mindful of your Lord Who created you from a single soul, and from it He created its mate (Adam & Eve),\u00a0and through both, He spread countless men and women. And be mindful of Allah\u2014in Whose Name you appeal to one another\u2014and (honor)\u00a0family ties. Surely Allah is ever Watchful over you.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

(Surah An-Nisa, 4:1)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to teach more about the rights of women in Islam and how a women should be treated, on October 25,2022, The Civil and Architectural Department of TIU organized a workshop under the title \u201cThe inspiring ways our Prophet (PBUH) honored women\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In this workshop, which was held in the Maulid al Nabawi month, the ways that the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) was treating and honoring women were explained, with examples of how he was dealing with women in his life.<\/p>\n
