The grant corresponds to the framework of the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/tiu.edu.iq\/9th-and-10th-graduation-ceremony\/\">University<\/a>\u00a0partnerships with Iraq 2022-2023\u201d Program, under the project title \u201cMultiscale consequence studies for hazard impact on structures in Iraq\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The partnership between Bauhaus University Weimar (BUW) and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tiu.edu.iq\/8th-icowobas-2021\/\">Tishk<\/a>\u00a0International University\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tiu.edu.iq\/8th-icowobas-2021\/\">Erbil<\/a>\u00a0(TIU) aims to further develop the curriculum of the higher education institute in Iraq, to conduct joint scientific research and field surveys, and to offer young academics in Iraq (M.Sc. and Ph.D. students) additional qualifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project will focus on analyzing the effects of natural hazards and their severity and identify areas with the highest risk with respect to each hazard, through the use of different scales of assessment. The project will also contribute to the development of a robust solution to reform design concepts\/construction practices, introduce\/apply efficient mitigation measures, and ultimately improve the social and economic condition in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project on one hand will focus on survey and elaboration of building stock data through techniques of stock tagging which helps to identify the typical building types and their vulnerability, and on the other hand, study the characteristics of damaged buildings in the city of Mosul and to define economic reconstruction measures.
