Students are accompanied by the head of civil engineering department; Mr. Barham Haidar, Prof. Dr. Bayan Salim and Assistants Mr. Halmat and Mr. Shkar. The teaching staff of the department was welcomed by the director of Dukan Dam Mr. Hama Tahir and responsible of the hydraulic structure of the dam Mr. Salam. Mr. Hama Tahir gave historical information about Dukan dam construction. Then, Mr. Salam made a tour to the dam and introduced each element of the dam to the students. So, students got an idea about how dam build and in which place need to be built. Students could find a relation between the theory part where they have taught in Hydraulic class and the practical part in the field. They got enough information about construction DUKAN DAM. \u00a0The following paragraphs contain information about DUKAN Dam, some of the information are notes have taken by the student during the explanation of the guidance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">The\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\"><b>Dukan Dam<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0is a multi-purpose concrete\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a id=\"LPlnk712975\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arch_dam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"LPlnk712975\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">arch dam<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0to provide water storage,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a id=\"LPlnk258565\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Irrigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"LPlnk258565\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">irrigation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a id=\"LPlnk309986\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hydroelectricity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"LPlnk309986\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">hydroelectricity<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0located in\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/As_Sulaymaniyah_Governorate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">As Sulaymaniyah Governorate<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Iraq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">Iraq<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">. It impounds the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Little_Zab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">Little Zab<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">, thereby creating\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lake_Dukan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">Lake Dukan<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">. The Dukan Dam was built between 1954 and 1959 whereas its power station became fully operational in 1979. The dam is 360 meters long and 116.5 meters high and its\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hydroelectricity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">hydroelectric<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Power_station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">power station<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0has a maximum capacity of 400\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Watt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">MW<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">70 participants (Studentes &amp;
