The Department of Civil Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) extends its warmest congratulations to fourth-grade students Ahmed Sabah Mahmood and Mohammed Firas Hussam for achieving a prestigious second-place finish at the National Innovation Competition in Engineering (NICE 2026), held on May 17, 2026. Competing against 25 innovative projects representing four different universities, the duo stood out with their exceptional graduation project titled “Design of a 21-Story RC Building with an Inclined Facade,” supervised by the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Najmadeen M. Saeed. The students accomplished a complex engineering feat by designing a high-rise structure entirely out of reinforced concrete (RC) without any steel structural elements, a breakthrough that directly aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, this project advances SDG 4 (Quality Education)<\/b> by showcasing how TIU empowers students with high-level, practical engineering and problem-solving skills before graduation. Furthermore, by pushing the boundaries of material efficiency and structural design in high-rise construction, the project contributes significantly to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)<\/b> and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities)<\/b>, demonstrating how innovative concrete design can foster resilient, safe, and sustainable urban infrastructure. The entire TIU community is incredibly proud of Ahmed, Mohammed, and Prof. Dr. Najmadeen for this well-deserved national recognition, which beautifully merges academic excellence with global sustainability goals.<\/p>\n
