Eebil, February 12, 2026<\/p>\n

The Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) has officially marked the successful completion of a landmark two-year community outreach initiative aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and student health at Rawan Primary School. This multi-stage project, which bridged the gap between infrastructure and daily utility, was born from the vision of Mrs. Asma Abdulmajeed and Mrs. Suriya Shaffi, with Mrs. Asma leading both implementation cycles to their final completion. The journey began in 2025 with the installation of two high-capacity water coolers equipped with advanced filtration systems to ensure that every student has consistent access to safe, purified drinking water. To close the loop on this sustainable system, the department organized a department-wide Food Fundraising event, supervised by Mrs. Asma, which mobilized faculty and students to raise the capital needed for the second phase. On February 12, 2026, under the logistical supervision of Mr. Halmat Muslih, Faculty Advisor of the TIU ACI Student Chapter, active student members distributed 300 high-quality reusable water bottles to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade students. This initiative effectively eliminates the need for single-use plastics while promoting hygiene and healthy living among the younger generation.<\/p>\n

By integrating clean water access with waste-reduction tools, the TIU Civil Engineering Department has directly contributed to several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Throughout the distribution event, TIU student volunteers engaged with the children, providing essential education on environmental stewardship and the importance of cleanliness\u2014core values that the department strives to instill in its own future engineers. “This initiative was more than just a fundraiser; it was a testament to our commitment to sustainability,” the department noted in a statement, emphasizing that engineering is ultimately about improving the quality of life for the community. This project stands as a proud example of the TIU Civil Engineering Department and the ACI Student Chapter\u2019s dedication to fostering a culture of health and environmental responsibility through practical, hands-on action.<\/p>\n
