Erbil, February 12, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Civil Engineering Department<\/strong>\u00a0at Tishk International University has officially marked the successful completion of a landmark two-year community outreach initiative aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and student health at\u00a0Rawan Primary School<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This multi-stage project, which bridged the gap between infrastructure and daily utility, was born from the vision of\u00a0Mrs. Asma Abdulmajeed<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Mrs. Suriya Shaffi<\/strong>, with Mrs. Asma leading both implementation cycles to their final completion. The journey began in\u00a02025<\/strong>\u00a0with the installation of two high-capacity water coolers equipped with advanced filtration systems to ensure that every student has consistent access to safe, purified drinking water.<\/p>\n

To close the loop on this sustainable system, the department organized a department-wide\u00a0Food Fundraising event<\/strong>, supervised by Mrs. Asma, which mobilized faculty and students to raise the capital needed for the second phase. On\u00a0February 12, 2026<\/strong>, under the logistical supervision of\u00a0Mr. Halmat Muslih<\/strong>, Faculty Advisor of the TIU ACI Student Chapter, active student members distributed\u00a0300 high-quality reusable water bottles<\/strong>\u00a0to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade students. This initiative effectively eliminates the need for single-use plastics while promoting hygiene and healthy living among the younger generation.<\/p>\n

By integrating clean water access with waste-reduction tools, the TIU Civil Engineering Department has directly contributed to several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including\u00a0SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)<\/strong>,\u00a0SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)<\/strong>, and\u00a0SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the distribution event, TIU student volunteers engaged with the children, providing essential education on environmental stewardship and the importance of cleanliness\u2014core values that the department strives to instill in its own future engineers.\u00a0\u201cThis initiative was more than just a fundraiser; it was a testament to our commitment to sustainability,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the department noted, emphasizing that engineering is ultimately about improving the quality of life for the community. This project stands as a proud example of the TIU Civil Engineering Department and the ACI Student Chapter\u2019s dedication to fostering a culture of health and environmental responsibility through practical, hands-on action.<\/p>\n
